Getting Around

Tips and solutions to get your right transportation for achieving your Kei dreams.

Sea Travel

To reach the famed snorkeling spots and uninhabited islands (like Bair, Adranan, and Ngurtafur), you will need a boat.

Do you need some help to get some direct contact?

Private Boat Charter (Speedboat / Longboat)

Best For

Visiting the main attractions like Bair Island, Adranan Beach, and Ngurtafur Sandbar.

Availability

Can be arranged through your homestay or directly with a local fisherman at coastal villages (e.g., Ohoidertawun, Debut, or Dullah Port).

Cost

Costs vary widely based on the boat size, number of stops, and duration (half-day vs. full-day). Expect a range of IDR 700,000 – 1,500,000 for a full day of island hopping, to be split among your group.

Tips

Always agree on the price and the exact itinerary before departing. It is common to share costs with other travelers from your accommodation.

Local Ferry (To Kei Besar & other Islands)

Best For

Traveling to the larger, more distant islands like Kei Besar (Great Kei).

Availability

Public ferries and some small wooden passenger boats depart from ports like Debut or Tual.

Tips

Schedules are often irregular, based on demand, weather, and local needs. Inquire locally at the port or through your host for the most current times.

The islands of Kei Kecil and Dullah (where the capital, Tual, is located) are connected by a bridge, making them a single, easy-to-navigate unit by road.

Langgur Airport (LUV)

Location

Dumatubun Langgur Airport (LUV) is the main gateway, located on Kei Kecil.

Transport

Taxis or pre-arranged pick-ups are the most reliable way to get to your accommodation from the airport.

Cost

Costs vary widely based on the deal. Expect a range of IDR 150,000 – 300,000 for a ride from the Airport to the Hotel.

Tips

Arrange transport with your host in advance for a smoother arrival, or use one of the waiting airport taxis.
